covid
when COVID first started. There. There was so much
controversy. There was so much
controversy and so little information. We listened to Andrew Cuomo every
morning when he told us what was going on in New York was as close to real news
as we could get. Our government wasn't very good at keeping us in. Wanna tell
us what was going on? There was a lot of anxiety right here at home. Chuck was
right on it, he said. We're going to start collecting some food and be prepared
in case we had some isolation. And they were very. Careful with me. I was in my
head and I insisted that I wanted to go to the grocery store. And I was so
shocked when I got there. I felt like I was in a foreign country. Because
everyone was absolutely silent, there were these arrows on the floor that told
you which direction you could walk in, and I'll there was their cities. There
was empty shelves. People were so strange. There was no eye contact. There was
a. Death. Deliberate attempt. To stay away from each other. This went on for
awhile and I didn't go to the store again because it was too upsetting for me.
But I was stuck to the news. Just had to know what was going on, even though it
was still mostly. Europe. And mostly New York, but it didn't take long at all
for the news to travel and to get in. I was already kind of in a hypervigilant
state. Since the incident with the truck, I. Was not able to completely relax
at anytime and this just got in my sleep and got in my wrist. I kept fighting
my shoulders up around my ears and my holding my breath. It was a very
strenuous time. This is two years now. One year ago we got our vaccinations and
we are triple vaccinated now and we will get vaccinated again if it shows up
that it's necessary. It's we are careful. We wear our masks when we go out. We
go out as little as possible, and when we do go to the store, it's at 7:00 AM
so that nobody else is up except us. We have taken care of our appointments.
We've gone to the doctor, we've gotten our eyes checked. We've been to the
dentist everything with. All the equipment that's. Our medical person needs to
have. I also want to mention Robert Derego. Robert. Was the first business
person to start. Changing the way he did business. Closing his store and I'll
be only selling his goods through the window. At first, people made fun of him
and said he was. Chicken little. But he turned out to be right. He was he was
right. It was time for people to start paying attention that COVID could even
get to Crescent City. I admire him for his diligence in protecting his
customers. The way it is now, two years in and with all our vaccination. I
still sit in church in my coat because the. Bishop insists on a lot of
ventilation, even though we're sitting in our masks and we know that everybody
in that church is vaccinated, we still have to put up with the extra
ventilation. Much as I like knowing that everybody is careful, I am just about
to. Exhausted as everybody else. And in the mentally exhausting part, I still
look at the news. I still look for the numbers, I may always. Be stuck on those
numbers, even though they're going down and they look better. The story group
is talking about. Meeting again on the 21st of March. You have to. Numbers are
still low. But we are careful people. We're all vaccinated. We're all careful.
We all live in isolation. We all wanna be together, and yet even that is not
enough to overcome. The anxiety about the COVID.
